The Make Believe World
Enforced Obeisance.
Trump’s temperament reminds me of Ronda Rousey, a previous Mixed Martial Arts Champion that went into professional wrestling after she lost her title in the cage.
She was instantly reviled by the wrestling fans simply by portraying her true nature of arrogance and disdain for others while still seeking their praise.
Playing the role of the heel, she could’ve had a lucrative career in this make believe world. But she couldn’t stand the jeers. Until her losses in MMA, she had been a legitimate champion that brought the prestige and adulation that came with it. And despite her recent senior-circuit success, it must be a hollow victory compared to her earlier days.
Although she lasted a few years in wrestling, she couldn’t take the heat of being despised by the fans.
As for Trump, he understands that he’s in there to destroy the middle class and funnel their assets to the corporations left standing. But he still wants fealty from his previous supporters whose lives he has destroyed. He can’t stand being so hated when he is used to being worshipped. And he is quickly running out of any group willing to do so voluntarily.
Trump should have put professional wrestlers on the White House lawn today instead of professional fighters. It would better suit the circus. But I guess this form of violence is as close as he can get to a legitimate thumbs up or down moment.
Currently, he only has that kind of power over the troops.
